Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas is a 1993 stop-motion animation movie which has become a favorite for viewing at both Christmas and Halloween. It was written by Tim Burton (based on a poem which he had written several years earlier, in 1982) and directed by Henry Selick. The movie's music was composed by Danny Elfman. It features Chris Sarandon as the speaking voice of Jack Skellington, Danny Elfman as the singing voice of Jack Skellington, Catherine O'Hara as the voice of Sally, Ken Page as the voice of Oogie Boogie and Ed Ivory as the voice of Santa Claus. The film was originally going to be released under the Walt Disney Pictures banner, but was moved to the Touchstone Pictures banner because The Walt Disney Company was worried that the film would be "too dark and scary for kids". Of course, that would have bothered anyone else that they were pretending they were worried it was going to bomb at the box office. Luckly, the Walt Disney Pictures banner has been restored to the film in subsequent Blu-ray and DVD re-releases. It was rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America for some scary images.
